SUPCON accelerates development of open standards with successful Ethernet-APL tests

SUPCON was invited to participate in Automation Expo 2023 in India

July - SUPCON achieved a significant milestone in the establishment of Ethernet-based Advanced Physical Layer (APL) open standard with the successful Ethernet-APL Product Interoperability Testing with two renowned industrial automation enterprises: SAMSON, the outstanding global company in control valves; Endress + Hauser(E+H), one of the world's leaders in measuring instruments, services and solutions for industrial process control.

Ethernet-APL Technology Standard is the deployment of standard physical Ethernet technology for the hazardous areas of the process industry. Its implementation promises substantial reductions in labor costs, cable costs, and project schedules and empowers enterprises to boost maintenance and management efficiency of large-scale industrial complex.

Since 2019, SUPCON has been actively researching Ethernet-APL Technology, leading to the development of an impressive array of APL products and solutions, including APL power switches, APL field switches, and APL instruments. The success stories of this technology have already been demonstrated through projects like the Hubei Sanning Refined Phosphoric Acid Plant. As of 2022, SUPCON has been dedicatedly promoting Ethernet-APL Technology and its products on the international stage.

The Interoperability test between SUPCON and SAMSON commenced in April and concluded triumphantly with the successful testing of TROVIS 3797 Positioners in early July. Concurrently, the Interoperability Testing with E+H was also accomplished in July, encompassing a full range of APL instruments, including Promass 300/500 Coriolis Mass Flow Meters, Cerabar Pressure Transmitters, Prowirl 200 Vortex Flow Meters, Micropilot Radar Level Transmitters, and iTEMP TMT86 Temperature Transmitters.

This successful collaboration not only signifies the progressive establishment of SUPCON's APL ecosystem but also provides a stable and reliable platform for cooperation and exchange within the industry, promoting the widespread application and development of APL Technology.
