SUPCON Wins China’s Top Construction Prize - Luban Prize - for Zizhi Tunnel

SUPCON DCS Passes Acceptance Test of Mongolia Erdenet Power Plant

Nov 6, the 30th Luban Prize Commemoration was held in Beijing Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. The ceremony unveiled the winner list of 2016~2017 Luban Prize for China High-quality Construction Engineering Projects.

Among the 238 awarded projects was Zizhi Tunnel. SUPCON, as one of the main contractors, took the procurement, implementation, commissioning, and maintenance of the tunnel ancillary infrastructure construction, including traffic monitor & control, power distribution, ventilation, illumination, etc.

This is the second time SUPCON has won Luban Prize, which is also taken as the Oscar Award in China construction field. Every two years, the top class construction projects are nominated to accept rounds of review and assessment of the experts grouped by MOHURD (Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development) and CCIA (China Construction Industry Association). The prize is appraised with the spirit of respecting humanity history and culture, and the principles of openness, fairness and equality.

As the award-wining project, Zizhi Tunnel is the longest urban tunnel in China, stretching 14.4 km from Zhipu Road to Zijingang Road in Hangzhou. The construction began on Feb 20, 2016 and was completed on Aug 9, 2016. The main stem comprises 3 tunnels and 2 bridges. The 6 lanes in two ways have substantially alleviated the traffic pressure of Hangzhou City. Moreover, it will boost the integration of Xixi District, Zhijiang District, and Binjiang District significantly.
